Okinawan Diner Nirai-Kanai

Yesterday we had a super good dinner at Okinawan Diner Nirai-Kanai.

We ordered a set dinner that consists of stewed pork belly and bittergourd. The pork belly simply melts in your mouth (though can see the fats... but still very soft). This set comes with the purple sweet potato ice-cream-very yummy...

The other set is the soba w seaweed and okinawa seasoned rice. The soba is very chewy but the rice is rather disappointing (a bit like the pumpkin mushroom rice that we cooked last sunday). It also comes w the okinawa fried donut-a bit dry for my liking. It also comes w pork rib and pork belly but not as soft as the first set.

Both sets come with this peanut tofu (which is cold n comes w sweet sauce)-I like it very much, highly recommended.

The deco is very old school (wooden planks and old posters and photographs). The service staffs dun reallie understand english (guess they are japanese bah :P) coz when we said she can clear the tray, she walk away to clear the other table. haha.

Overall, highly recommended.

Old Times

Met up with a few of KPMG pple these few weeks. Discussing about our old days and how time flies.. been 5 years since I joined KPMG... How we worked through the night for some special audit and how our late nites always end up with much fun n laughter... n the challenge of who is the winner (the one who stayed the latest) - n we even had macdonalds breakfast at 4am in our office on the 3rd level of Hong Leong building... haha.. those were the fun days.

Somehow I miss those days even though there were many late nites and weekends spent in office... I guess it is the people that makes the difference.

Xmas Party

My landlord organise a Xmas party on Xmas day-plus we do not have to do any cooking... coz we have our super domestic helper & of coz the party organiser (i.e. landlord) who are in-charge of the cooking ...hahaa...

We had a roast chicken, wholemeal pasta, salad, meatballs w cranberry sauce and pita bread pizza. Too much food and in the end, almost the whole chicken was fed to my 2 boys.. haha... lucky them...

Had a wonderful time catching up w friends n relatives.. esp char... been almost a year or more since we last met... my new year resolution: spend more time w friends!

Food Pics... the portion of the set dinner is reallie small.. think of fine dining... ha... but the quality of the food is reallie good. Well, so small that we went to eat Zi Char afterthat... waste money.

Nonetheless, we decided to go back again to try the buffet lunch (coz Cleo passed her exams!! ha... of coz it is her treat.) The portion has significantly increased and we had like almost 20 dishes over 3 hours... We tried a variety of stuff like duck's tongue, pig ears n red chee chong fun!!

I even brought my parents back for another buffet lunch to celebrate my mum's birthday... they are rather pleased with the food.. esp mummy, coz she doesn't like buffet but not this... maybe coz they are traditional folks so they prefer chinese cuisine more than western fare. Bro loves the crispy skin duck, he even had 2 plates of it (1 whole plate by himself)

Dear's brithday today! And I am planning to bring you to a surprise place for dinner tonite! *Secret* cannot tell... ha.. all you know is a Chinese Restaurant... actually u guess the location correctly last nite (orchard parade hotel) but u tot we going for buffet... :P told u a million times that it is not buffet!! (wanted to bring u to "The Line" at Shangri-La but not special enough)

Place: Club Chinois
Reserved the table online on Friday and they actually send me 新 華 品 味 套 餐 (Club Chinois Tasting Menu), the set menu! Impressed. :)

Hope the food is good. Recommended by Ah Li Wee but she went for the buffet.. so hope ala carte is equally good. :)

98C61 VJC 10 years reunion

Today is our 10 years reunion!!! 98C61!!! Datz our class... 98 batch commerce.. 1 stands for?? class 1 lor... :P

We arranged to meet at VJ to tour around our beloved school... lots of changes since we last graduated... new extension is built and canteen is renovated... new wooden structure in the field...i almost cannot recognised the school when the cab driver turns in... :)

Memories came flooding back of the good old times... this was where the 6 of us met and became good frenz (ok... 7 including the onli boy with us today... mr G.teo who asked whether I am having my cramps/cold/hair pain today) ha.... too bad one of us has chicken pox and could not turn up...

10 years... time flies... like crazy.. ha...and dat means I am getting damn old lor... ha... funny thing is no one seems to have change except we grow fatter/skinnier...

Got great updates and catching up done with everyone.. by the way, we are meeting again!! for Yu Sheng! 17 Feb 08 (Lunar 11th day-as per wat Sharon has repeatedly informed us) Fantastic! Hope the hair on my arms do not get swollen again... hor?? haha...

We also went to this nice restaurant.. Roland.. the founder of chilli crabs!! But i personally feel that the black pepper crab nicer... :P dun tell Roland tt... we also had the usual cereal prawns, sambal kang kong, hotplate tofu and chicken in thai sauce... verdict: must go back again... nice!

Friends forever!! Letz do this again 10 years down the road!!
