Chinese New Year

Been reallie busy these few weeks with CNY stuff... Went to Tunglok and ordered the Treasure Bowl aka Pen Cai (It comes with 13 ingredients: Fresh Abalone, Sea Cucumber, Golden Oysters, Scallops, Prawns, Pork Shanks, Pig Tongues, Bai Ling Mushroom, Shiitake Mushrooms, Black Moss, Bean Dough, White Radish and Baby Cabbage). Got their trio special, which consists of the above plus Prosperity Yu Sheng, Sakura Chicken w Sesame and free glutinous rice!

Also redeemed my credit cards reward points for Pipa Duck... n also Yu Sheng w smoked salmon. The latter will be for my pre-CNY reunion dinner...

Went to Chinatown n bought several CNY deco as well as ordered the super delicious Pineapple tarts (we ordered before xmas and the delivery is alreadi full!! so we had decided to collect at Tanjong Pagar mrt exchange). Wanted to buy last year but there were no more stocks... so this year, I decided to call them early to order but I guess it is not early enuf... super hot. Got to order even earlier next year.. haha...

Hypothyroidism

Just got the results of my body check-up and I have got hypthroidism.... need to be on medication for 6 weeks (doctor says a low dosage for now) and got to take another blood test to see if the medication can control it. Sigh... depressed... now I am not sure whether it is the thyroid that is causing me to be depress or am I reallie depressed (w/o the thyriod affecting my mood)

Doc says it might be hereditary but none of my family has it/I am aware of ... well then, it is better to get it under control now with medication. The symptoms sound scary: Impaired cognitive function (brain fog) and inattentiveness, hair loss and premature wrinkling on the face!!! oh my god... I don't want these...

But hey, about 3% of the general population has it and I am one of the "lucky" 3%! Even Oprah Winfrey has it... so ain't I lucky? Sigh...

Dozo

Finally I have found the right place for this year's birthday celebration! It is @ Dozo. Near our house, at Valley Point. They serve Japanese and French fusion food. Had called earlier to reserve the table and it has a nice view by the window. Love the lights that changes it colour ver few seconds, creating a nice and romantic atmosphere.
The dinner is a seven course dinner. My fav is of coz the main course, beef tt I can grill on the hot stone! They also serve green tea infused with all kinds of berries, cannot get enuf of tt. The appetizer is quite disappointing for me coz I onli like the scallop and the smoked salmon is normal (scallop, foie gras and smoked salmon). We had sashimi platter, king alaskan crab, escargot and mushroom for starters, mushroom and Kun-bu soup and panna cotta, warm chocolate cake and cold fruits-infused tea for desserts.
After our main course, we had our desserts and drinks at the lounge with the running water in the background. Nice. Though the super huge "Fu" CNY deco spoils the mood at the lounge (:P)
Overall, nice atmosphere for a romantic dinner. Like their plate presentation. Service staff are very friendly though the other guests are rather rowdy (maybe coz it is a friday nite and there are several big groups). Call in advance to inform them you are celebrating birthday and they even gave us a cheesecake and candle (very thoughtful).

Boys' Day Out

Bought a pair of matching blue Chinese New Year outfit for my boys at the ASD's event @ West Coast Park Dog Run. The outfit for the females are super cute. It comes with a mini skirt. Very Nice-too bad they are boys... Nonetheless, they remind me of Tissue Box when they put on the CNY outfit! Ha... Pui already has a black and gold CNY outfit but Paco does not have any, that was why we bought another CNY outfit for Pui :)

I like Paco's Xmas outfit.. he looks cool in that... ha... it used to belong to Pui but he has grown too fat to wear it... Luckily the Doggy Hotter still fits though it is a little tight at his waist... It used to be rather loose.... Time to get them more outfits! More shopping!

Okinawan Diner Nirai-Kanai

Yesterday we had a super good dinner at Okinawan Diner Nirai-Kanai.

We ordered a set dinner that consists of stewed pork belly and bittergourd. The pork belly simply melts in your mouth (though can see the fats... but still very soft). This set comes with the purple sweet potato ice-cream-very yummy...

The other set is the soba w seaweed and okinawa seasoned rice. The soba is very chewy but the rice is rather disappointing (a bit like the pumpkin mushroom rice that we cooked last sunday). It also comes w the okinawa fried donut-a bit dry for my liking. It also comes w pork rib and pork belly but not as soft as the first set.

Both sets come with this peanut tofu (which is cold n comes w sweet sauce)-I like it very much, highly recommended.

The deco is very old school (wooden planks and old posters and photographs). The service staffs dun reallie understand english (guess they are japanese bah :P) coz when we said she can clear the tray, she walk away to clear the other table. haha.

Overall, highly recommended.
